Chinchilla State School uses the Australian Curriculum to plan, teach, assess and report for the learning areas of English, Maths, Science, HASS, The Arts, Technology, Health and Physical Education and Languages Other Than English (Prep - Year 4 Auslan and Year 5 and 6 Japaneese). Teachers utilise a variety of resources including Queensland’s support materials "Curriculum into the Classroom" to create engaging units of work each term. Year level staff adopt or adapt these tasks based on the learning needs of the students. A teaching sequence is then formulated based around the student needs and differentiated teaching practices are designed. Classroom teachers then focus on aligning differentiated planning and moderation on a fortnightly basis.

Round Up Letters are published for every class at the beginning of each term, outling the curriculum units, expectations and assessment for each learning area. These letters are sent home to parents informing them of curriulum, key dates and important information for the term.

ICTs (Information and Communication Technologies) are integrated across the curriculum. Each classroom is equipped with an interactive projector and students have access to a computer lab in the Library.

Specialist subject teachers in Health and Physical Education, Music, Technology and LOTE (Aulslan and Japanese) are based at the school. An Instrumental Music Teacher also visits the school to provide lessons to students.

Our teachers plan engaging learning experiences that cater for a range of students in their class. Teacher Aides work with teachers to ensure our students are provided with regular support. A variety of teaching practices are used including Explicit Instruction whereby teachers scaffold learning experiences and allow students to consolidate the required skills and knowledge.

Classroom teachers are challenged to provide a learning environment which meets the needs of students to allow them to 'Learn to the Best of their Ability'. Through Faces on the Data, Chinchilla State School has undergone a process of developing class profiles giving the class teachers a snapshot of their students and how the learning process is differentiated to meet each students needs.

Chinchilla State School also offers an informal curriculum providing students with opportunities to develop as self-managed learners who are confident and well developed citizens of the future. Activities include:
